Unfortunately, they do not pay writers until the article is in print, so I may have to wait awhile to get a check. Plus, they do not offer a kill fee, so if they decide not to use it, I won't get paid a cent. I'm hoping they'll find a place for my article in one of the next few issues of the magazine. If they do, I'll be sure to send you a copy!

The term kill fee refers to a payment some publishers offer authors

to convince them not to send their writing to any other publisher.
when they accept a piece of work and publish it in their magazine.
when they accept a piece of work and do not end up using it.
that is a percentage of the profits the publisher made on the article
