Can someone help me with French?
@bohotness do you know French? or someone that can help?
YES
okay... well can you check this sentence I wrote to see if it makes contextual and grammatical sense?
sureeee
Okay... I wrote Je fais des bêtises avec mes parents quand je les désobéis.
@bohotness sorry it took so long, I'm trying to multitask.
@bohotness
@bohotness
@bohotness is that correct? ^^
i can help
is it right?
"Je fais des bêtises avec mes parents quand je les désobéis."
@EnVyUs_Evil
@J.F
@cloudx
Sorry, your sentence is a bit wonky. What where you trying to say?
I get into trouble with my parents when I disobey them. @EmazingEm3399 but the thing is, I have to use one of the phrases in the chart I attached
Hmm, it's a bit weird grammatically, but I think you could get away with "Je fais des bêtises quand je désobéis à mes parents."
oh, okay XD wow, thanks.
can you help more? @EmazingEm3399
@EmazingEm3399
Sure!
how would I put that in the past and future?
I'm sorry, not this advanced yet.
oh, okay
Can you ask your teacher? normally they're lad to try to help.
I'm just not sure if I need to use passé compossé or l'imparfait for the past tense
I can help you, if you still need help :)
Yes, I do! @alfordabby
@alfordabby
You'd better use imperfect for this sentence.
why? @Vincent-Lyon.Fr
If there is no context and no mention of a date in the sentence, then it is a general assessment which requires imparfait.
okay, so would this be correct @Vincent-Lyon.Fr? Je faisais des bêtises quand je désobéissais à mes parents.
Correct. I would like to make a point here. EmazingEm3399 said your first sentence was a bit weird, which is true. The reason why is a translation problem in your document. Faire des bêtises can be understood, when used on its own as to get into trouble. But what it litterally means is to do 'mischief'. To get into trouble would be more correctly translated as avoir des ennuis. You could write: Quand elle est seule, ma petite soeur fait des bêtises dans la cuisine. Quand elle était seule, ma petite soeur faisait des bêtises dans la cuisine.
Oh! okay. I didn't know that.. See, I go to an online school and the lessons aren't that great. Now, how would I put it in the future tense? le futur simple ou le futur proche?
@Vincent-Lyon.Fr
Here futur simple would be better.
oh, so would it be: Je ferai des bêtises quand je désobéirai à mes parents?
@Vincent-Lyon.Fr
Yes.
Correct !
Thank you so much! I can finally close this question XD
