Which of the following could represent an exponential function of the form y = f(x) = A * b^x, where b > 1? I was doing well until I came upon this problem. I have literally no idea. Completely 0.

Two hints: a) Plot the points given in the table. Then draw a curve through the points. b) if b > 1, then the exponential function will grow away from the x axis. If b < 1, then the exponential curve will decay and approach the x axis.

Upon being graphed. The exponential function is going away from the x-axis so b > 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats for I

OpenStudy (anonymous):

III is below the x-axis so its b < 1 right?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

does the graph for III approach the x axis? as x goes to positive infinity, does y get closer to 0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, it does seem to be approaching the x-axis. It goes from the right to the left

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm going to draw 4 xy axes for 4 graphs |dw:1428625981319:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here is number III graphed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here is I graphed

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The top two will represent when b > 1 The bottom 2 will represent when b < 1 |dw:1428626051756:dw|
