Computer Science 7 Online
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

I wanna be a Video game programmer(maybe even developer and tester) What languages shall I learn as for my basics?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

C#, Java, and sometimes Javascript seem popular for video games.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what platform? that can make a difference on the language. Do you want to make Moblie, PC, Console?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

There are several languaged popular in games. Depending on what part of the code you are involved in it can be vastly different. Get good in 3 to 5 languages with a solid foundation in computer science. Then go on from there into game libraries and graphics.

OpenStudy (rsmith6559):

IMO, C++ and C should be studied. Java and JavaScript aren't hard to learn if you're good in those two languages. C++ for the video game itself, and C for the hardware. Rendering the image looks to be a problem for a while to come.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're not going it's not so much the language but the game engine that will take time to learn.

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

Consoles Like I wanna work for Nintendo and Game Freak.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Consoles aren't a game engine. They're a device. A game engine would be something like Unity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There's also Phaser and Corona

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

Like the language they use to program games like Pokemon?

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

@wio

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pokemon? I'm not completely sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They probably used a very low level language. I'm guessing maybe C
