OpenStudy (surana):

Find the surface area of a cylinder with diameter 22 inches and height 15 inches.

OpenStudy (surana):

Answers are... A: 1796 inches squared B: 330 inches squared C: 5700 inches cubed D: 1036 inches squared

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Surface area=2πrh+2πr^2π π=3.14 r= radius/half of the diameter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just plug in your information into the formula and you should figure it out :)

OpenStudy (surana):

So it should be 2 x 3.14 x 15 x the height + 2 x 3.14 x 15 to the second power x 2 x 3.14? That's what I have to do?

OpenStudy (imtiaz7):

To find surface area of cylinder we use the formula 2pi r^2 + 2pi rh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep! correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

btw- @Imtiaz7 I already gave her the formula and she figured it out

OpenStudy (surana):

I'm a he.

OpenStudy (surana):

But I do understand how you could get confused.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya sorry :(

OpenStudy (surana):

It's alright.

OpenStudy (imtiaz7):

so diameter is twice of redius so r=22/2=11 and height is given that is 15 inches so put the values you get the answer

OpenStudy (surana):

So it's 1796?

OpenStudy (imtiaz7):

Exactly! :)

OpenStudy (surana):

Thank you.

OpenStudy (imtiaz7):

welcome :)
