Easy question! will medal! 17u^3 - 33u^5

OpenStudy (mattyboyy):

I just forgot if I subtract the exponent or not

OpenStudy (mattyboyy):

Finally an answer lol

OpenStudy (mattyboyy):

is it 17u - 33u^2

OpenStudy (jusaquikie):

you can't subtract the exponent if you have questions like this just test it with numbers if you had 17(2)^3 - 33(2)^5 would this answer be the same as 17(2)-33(2)^2 ?

OpenStudy (jusaquikie):

the first is (-920) the second is (-98) so i'd say that is proof that you can't
