http://prntscr.com/6s6hw9 Can someone help adn explain every step to me im liek dislexus and i need help bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

link will explain step by step :)

OpenStudy (linn99123):

Okay ty dear!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np cx

OpenStudy (welshfella):

lets try an eliminate subtract the 2 equations ( we wouldn't normally do this0 x + y = 16 x + y = 2 0 + 0 = 14 0 = 14

OpenStudy (welshfella):

which, of course is rubbish

OpenStudy (welshfella):

we got this result because x + y cannot be both equal to 2 and to 16

OpenStudy (welshfella):

so what do you think the correct answer is?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

do you follow that ?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

when you subtract equations you do it term by term x - x = 0, y -y = 0 and 16 - 2 = 14

OpenStudy (welshfella):

I know its usual to fix things so that you add instead of subtract but in this simple case its really not necessary it will have 1 more step

OpenStudy (welshfella):

x + y = 16 x + y = 2 multiply second equation by -1;- -x - y = -2 now add x + y = 16 -x - y = -2 0 = 0 = 14 0 = 14

OpenStudy (welshfella):

as you cannot get any values for x and y what do you think the correct option is?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

the first 3 must be incorrect , right?
