Classical conditioning: b. To classically condition a preschool child who is afraid of dogs to enjoy playing with dogs, you would need to retrain the child to associate the dog with something positive. One method of doing this would be to gradually acclimate the child to the idea of a dog. They could be placed in a room with a picture of a dog while being distracted (UR) with a fun game or a treat (US)

Later, an actual dog (CS) could be put in a cage and kept across the room while the child is distracted. The caged dog could be gradually moved closer as the child begins to associate the dog with the unconditioned stimulus, food or a fun game. The child would eventually be able to pet the dog, which would turn from the CS to the CR. Are my US, UR, NS, CS, and CR properly labeled?

Sorry, it's been a while since I've done this :/

OpenStudy (anna1448):

ok hun so there are UCS-unconditioned stimulus-event that naturally triggers a response UCR-unconditioned response-unlearned response to even NS-neutral stimulus-object to which the experimenter would like to get a response CS-conditioned stimulus-neutral stimulus becomes the conditioned stimulus CR-conditioned response-response to event brought about learning association

OpenStudy (anna1448):

so it seems to be that u have placed them all correctly :)
