OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

In general: when you make something, you need to test it. This applies to both hardware and software. Well, you need to put something into what you made to test it. Preferably something predictable at the "origin" that goes in a certain "direction" with a certain "magnitude." The meaning of the origin, direction, and magnitude will depend on what you are testing and how.
