What is the probability of getting a number less than four on a fair die and a tail on a coin flip? 1/6 1/4 1/2 3/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you explain

@amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what are your considerations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought at first 1/2 (simplified of 3/6) but then i saw that coins were involved as well so would that lessen the probability to1/3

OpenStudy (amistre64):

since P(n<4) and P(tails) are mutually exclusive, one does not effect the other then P(n<4) and P(tails) is essentially their product 1/2 * 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 1/4?
