Help!!! Medel will be given! Can someone please explain the importance of units when describing motion please!! I need to do a short essay, I need something to build a foundation with for the essay…
As an easy example, if I just said that something has a velocity of 2, what would that mean? It could be anything. It could be meters per second, it could be centimeters per second, it could be meters per year, or centimeters per year. And each of these are very different from the other. Something moving 2 meters per second is moving much, much faster than something moving 2 centimeters per year.
Are you saying units are each different things?
What I mean't to say units can be different when describing motion
Right. We can describe velocities in different units. 1 meter per second means that we are travelling 1 meter for every second that passes. 1 centimeter per second means that we are travelling 1 centimeter for every second that passes. So, saying that something has a velocity of 2 isn't useful. 2 what? 2 meters per second is 100 times faster than 2 centimeters per second. You could also have meant something like miles per hour. Or miles per second. Or inches per century. That's why it's VERY important to include units. Without them, numbers like this make no sense.
Thank you I understand it now!
Outstanding :) Good luck on your essay!
Thanks :)
