what is the shortest version of ephesians 4:29

OpenStudy (kenljw):

Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. And according to Christ's Good Samaritan's passage a neighbor is another human being. Be truthful of you observations and instruct correctly. And in a Christian way allow another to change, and without good reason bring up another's past unless their in the same err.

29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

This pretty much says "Do not curse." While I've yet to find biblical explanations of what "cursing" is, it's also self-explanatory to say you shouldn't drop the f bomb and then claim to be a Christian thereafter. Unwholesome talk is something that is not of God, since it is he who makes all things whole and new.

OpenStudy (kenljw):

Though shalt not use the Lords name in vain. Vain means Idle or worthless, so I would take this commandment to mean if your following the Lord you should be fruitful and meaningful to the world. I generally don't use foul language but have in times of depression and occasionally blurted out not really understanding why. I've experience telepathy and if one does not want certain influences it's better to avoid certain language so when it comes to mind you can question it source and express your own lean on the world.
