In 2003, Democrat Governor Roy Barnes was defeated by Republican Sonny Perdue. These events led to the rise of the one-party system in Georgia. the rise of the Civil Rights movement in Georgia. the rise of the two-party system in Georgia. the rise of the Democratic Party in Georgia.
