OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

@tkhunny I have a question about Math if you don't mind. I promise, it's nothing that I have to solve.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ask away

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nice bear

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hehe, thanks

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

What's the difference between those 2? I had to half the question where the image is drawn. Why? http://assets.openstudy.com/updates/attachments/552bc936e4b01a9d6d067bd7-yanasidlinskiy-1428933470535-image.png http://assets.openstudy.com/updates/attachments/552bc936e4b01a9d6d067bd7-yanasidlinskiy-1428933470238-image1.png I was finding volume for both of them...And I had to half the problem where the image was...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Difference?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THe height and the radius are different.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first one gives you the diameter..and the radius is half the diameter, so divide it by 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Formula for the volume of a cylinder: \(\sf V = \pi r^2 h\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first one is just on its side.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

I already solved it..But I was just wondering why I had to half the first one and NOT the second one..I was a bit confused..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Half the first one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, the diameteR?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because we need the RADIUS, not the diameter, and the radius is half the diameter.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(\sf V = \pi \color{red} r^2 h\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The second one just told you the radius.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Yes, I do know that formula and I'm familiar with it. Ok, I see where you're going with this. Thanks for the help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem, Pedo Bear out :P

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Ya, and the first comment was a little rude as well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

srry

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Oh, it's fine. I was just thinking maybe you guys should see the question first before you guys reply in a rude way to it. But it's ok! I was just letting you know!:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, what was rude?

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Your first comment when you said: "Ask away". But it's ok. I was just letting you know that, that was a bit rude. I promise, I don't hold any grudges against you:)

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

This is one of the great puzzles of communication. One should try to speak so that no other is offended. It is not enough to speak so that you believe they should not be offended. It is the view of the receiver that is more important. Philosophy...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, I don't see how that was rude but I won't say it anymore.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@tkhunny Yes, but I didn't know that would offend her, now I do.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@tkhunny @tkhunnу

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The 2nd one is an imposter..hmm..

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Just don't reply like that to anyone anymore:) I'm not crying or anything, I promise. If you would've said that to someone else, I'm sure they would've gotten crazy.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

That's fine. We're all learning.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Yes, correct, tkhunny:)
