1) The larger the human population on the world, the larger will be the need for resources, natural or man-made, to support the requirements for as many millions of people. So I'd say it should be a concern, this questions must be resolved before the population grows in number.
The economic wealth is also to be a concern, since it can be used to promote the advance of humanity or the destruction of the planet.
2) I think scientists, politicians, entrepreneurs should have the faculty to carry on with these choices, because they are into the research about how the lands have to be used and the right way to invest in their use.
3)Sustainable energies are necessary, though it is going to take a very long time, a lot of research and also a lot of money to get to the sustainable energy era. The current energy resources must be replaced as soon as possible, to stop the further damage they could cause to planet Earth.
