Use the chart below to answer the questions: Country Population Area U.S. 272,648,000 9,364,520 Denmark 5,248,000 42,077 Ghana 18,339,000 237,533 Which of these countries has the greatest population density? Which has the least? How can you tell? Provide an explanation and proof for your answer to receive full credit.
In order to tell which country has the greatest and least population density, we must first examine the formula of density. Here it is: D = Mass Volume As you can see, we need divide the amount of Mass (Population) by the amount of volume (Area) in order to figure density for each country, and now that we know this, lets do it. U.S. - Population: 272,648,000 Area: 9,364,520 In order to figure out the population density we need to apply the formula of density. D = Mass Volume D = 272,648,000 9,364,520 D = 29.11500002 Now we know the population of the U.S., lets move on to the Denmark. Denmark - Population: 5,248,000 Area: 42,077 D = Mass Volume D = 5,248,000 42,077 D = 124.7237208 Now we know the population denisty of Denmark, let's move on to Ghana. Ghana - Population: 18,339,000 Area: 237,533 D = Mass Volume D = 18,339,000 237,533 D = 77.20611451 Now that we know each of the countries population density, lets compare them. U.S: D = 29.11500002 Denmark: D = 124.7237208 Ghana: D = 77.20611451 From this, we can figure out that Denmark has the greatest population because its density is the largest, and also see that the U.S. has the least population density.
