Find x. Round the answer to the nearest tenth.

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

Ok hold on please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks so much

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

\[\sqrt{4.44^2 + 10.47^2}\] Will end up giving you your bottom side, \[\sqrt{4.44^2 + x^2} \] Will give you your left side (of the entire triangle or △)

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

\[(4.44^2 + 10.47^2) + (4.44^2 + x^2) = x + 10.47\]

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

This is the equation for the entire Hypotenuse of the entire △!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i still dont undersatnd how you find x from that?

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

For the small triangle to the right, the long leg is 10.47, and the short leg is 4.44. For the small triangle to the left, the long leg is 4.44, and the short leg is x.

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

Because you did not understand what i had done there. Here you can set up a proportion from that. \[\frac{ 10.47 }{ 4.44 } = \frac{ 4.44 }{ x }\]

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

Use that to find X

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so approximately 1.9?

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

Well i cannot give out direct answers as it is against openstudy's code of conduct.

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

That you have to figure out yourself. I am sorry i would give you a direct if i could, but i will not be banned for giving out a direct answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks so much!

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

Sure thing.
