I need help on elimination :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have to use the elimination process to solve this : y=75x+150 & y=90x+75

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

put them in standard form Ax + By + C -75x + y = 150 ---->(-1) -90x + y = 75 -------------- 75x - y = -150 (result of multiplying by -1) -90x + y = 75 --------------add - 15x = - 75 -- divide both sides by -15 x = -75/-15 x = 5 now sub 5 in for x in either of the original equations to find y -75x + y = 150 -75(5) + y = 150 - 375 + y = 150 y = 150 + 375 y = 525 now we can check our answers.. -90x + y = 75 -90(5) + 525 = 75 -450 + 525 = 75 75 = 75 (correct) so x = 5 and y = 525 or (5,525) any questions ?

thank you so much

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

sure thing :)
