Are there any metaphors in this poem? I can't recognize them. and can someone explain exactly what a metaphor is? "Metaphor is "a figure of speech containing an implied comparison, in which a word or phrase ordinarily and primarily used of one thing is applied to another. For example, "the curtain of night" or "all the world's a stage."" ~ http://examples.yourdictionary.com/metaphor-examples.html

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Yes. There is indeed a metaphor in this poem. This poem compares life to a blank leaf; implying that it is your choice with words to make that leaf healthy and colorful.
