The length of a rectangle is 8 ft. longer than its width, which has the same dimensions as the side of the square. if the area of the rectangle is equal to 160 square feet more than the area of the square, what are the length and width of the rectange? (Draw Diagram.) Please explain. Thx!

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

let the width of the square be w and the length of rectangle is w + 8 |dw:1428994829285:dw| so the rectangle is 160 ft^2 larger than the square so then 160 = 8w solve for the width, then you can find the length... hope it helps
