I have noticed in OpenStudy that some users seek help by saying, " Help! I will medal and fan!" That always catches our eye because these two words, " Medal"; "Fan" is something that will make our smartscore go higher. That is true. But the main idea of Openstudy is to help people, not get popular by a lot of medals and fans.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Doesn't anyone agree?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Besides, it's OpenStudy. Not OpenFan or OpenMedal

JoelTheBoss (joel_the_boss):

I think the reward system motivates users to help. It's competitive teaching and helping, tbh I would have never imagined doing this when I was younger. It's like a game but your teaching. I find it cool the teaching is fun. When someone says they will reward a medal and fan, that means there going to reward the best user who offers the most reliable help. The competition to see who gets the highest medal count or who's ranked highest on the leader board is something natural when you have a point system. People asking who offer a medal or fan simply need the help and quick, its a strategy to attract users to your question. Some people prefer to state a simple question, while others use the flashy and "HEY LOOK AT ME" approach.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Yes, but that's how we can get everyone to help right? I don't no difference with that or a problem with that. If you need someone to help or whatever, ask for the best. It's like saying, "LOOK! HOTTIE'S HERE!!"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I completely agree with you @Joel_the_boss and @YanaSidlinskiy, but I mean like: medal parties for example. Some people answer answers right but they say," Medals for me!"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^_^

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

But you do realize that what we do, the actions we take on OS and we remember them. So that's why we fan them and give them medals.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Medal Parties is a different story.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

I was in a post a while ago, and it was stated, "First person to say ok, gets a free medal" Now this, you'd definitely assume that it's a medal party. I got into that post and said, "First person to say ok, gets a free suspension" Now how many people do you think left that post? Many!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where's that? Can u show me the post?

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

I laughed me head off, like crazy. I'm not sure if it has been deleted though.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

It'll take a while for me to actually go through my answered questions to look for it. I'll try my best to look for it.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Or, I may just use google. I tried earlier and don't seem to find it.. So you'll have to give me some time to dig for it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yes, the medal, fan, testimonial, etc. is just to attract users to raise their SmartScore.

OpenStudy (igreen):

If there weren't any of that, there'd probably be a lot less helpers on OS.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then, I guess I reacted to quickly XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

'too'

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Sure did;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for the information guys! :)

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

No problemos!

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

@RainbowBrony555 I have a different link, it's not a medal party though.... It's something different... If you'd want it, I'll send it to you in messages.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay @YanaSidlinskiy :)

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Or here, either way.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Ya, see. http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/54cbf474e4b013a00251e492
