How was General Andrew Jackson's victory in New Orleans different from other battles in the War of 1812? The winning general became a hero. The battle added five new states to the nation. The British were stopped before reaching their goal. The battle had no effect on the outcome of the war.

Because the treaty of Ghent was signed on December 24 1814 and effectively ended the war of 1812 stating that all lands seized would be returned to its previous owner, and the conflicts of New Orleans began on that day but they were not informed until they had been fighting for nearly 2 months
