Well actually lines of latitude run east to west and measure north and south of the equator think if it in the for of a latter, latitude runs horizontal like the steps

they run east to west and measure north and south of the equator the main named ones are the Arctic circle, the tropic of Cancer, the tropic of Capricorn, and the Antarctic circle. you are thinking of longitude
