Will Fan = Medal What does Tan do when used on a calculator?

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

it stands for tangent - you'll learn a bit more about it when you start Trigonometry

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

Here, this should help :) https://www.mathsisfun.com/sine-cosine-tangent.html

Lol Yes IK what it means but what does it do and how does it work?

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

Ugh this is reaching back 2 or more years... I might be wrong but I think the first step is for you to find the opposite and adjacent angles if they give you a triangle. once you do that, you plug those values into a calculator, and it will give you the tangent angle. I'd go to this site if I were you, it makes it easier. http://www.math.com/students/calculators/source/tangent.htm

But what if it gives u a number like for example: Tan(Degrees)an unknown number = 38

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

Theeeeeeeen.... ugh I'm really really sorry Courtney but I can't help you any more than I did I did this over 2 years ago I barely remember it :( Hopefully this will help you out a little bit http://www.mathwarehouse.com/trigonometry/sine-cosine-tangent-chart.php sorry!!! :(

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

I think you just do reverse until you find the missing value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thnks CK ;)

OpenStudy (nerdgirl):

haha you're welcome
