How is the Social Security system being threatened? What changes have Congress made to help it survive?

I think the Social Security system is being threatened by taking out more money than they are putting in. I dont know what Congress has done to fix it though

more money is being taken out than being put in at this time. As costs go up, it will require more in payouts, however less is still being put in. There was a math bubble of people all coming due for benefits after a steady increase. The bubble is overloading the system. How will Congress help - if they keep their sticky little hand out of it, it will help
