Well the question comes down to was Christ raised from the dead, did he assent into heaven or to some other existence. Was man to remain the same throughout existence or was he to be transformed. Circumcision and Baptism represents the removal of certain parts of an individuals life into a new period. This is natural as one really matures and evaluates their previous life recognizing error and making corrections and adopting a new way of life, Christian call this being reborn. As for life after this one I have to consider what was may not always be, because as we grow so does everything else.

Death has to do with the carnal things of this world. Our flesh will die, sure, but our souls will not. Language can be interpreted as a few different items : Communication with God, communication with fellow human beings, or the understanding of the parables that are in the New and Old Testaments. Self reflection and knowledge go hand and hand for the idea that they are gifts of God. He has revealed to you these items. Therefore, death would be the most logical answer since it's the only carnal item.
