Which statement best describe the difference between a gene and an allele? A. A gene is one of two or more variants of an allele. An allele is a section of a chromosome that usually contains the code for a particular protein. B. A gene is a section of an allele. An allele is a section of DNA that usually contains the code for a specific protein that determines a specific trait. C. An allele is a section of a gene. A gene is a section of DNA that usually contains the code for a specific protein that determines a specific trait. D. An allele is one of two or more variants of a gene.

OpenStudy (inexilewetrust):

an allele basically is one version of the gene. Think of siblings. One might be taller than the other. One might have blue eyes while others have brown. Same genetic making, but different alleles.

What is produced from any parent cell that undergoes meiosis? A. four haploid cells B. two diploid cells C. four diploid cells D. two haploid cells

OpenStudy (inexilewetrust):

When a parent cell undergoes meiosis, it produces two daughter cells, I am not sure if it is diploid or not.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so B is my best bet?

OpenStudy (inexilewetrust):

Sorry, but in some aspects of biology I am rusty as I have not touched these concepts since my freshman year.

OpenStudy (inexilewetrust):

I really don't know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will go

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay I will go with B...

OpenStudy (inexilewetrust):

Okay from what I see, I see two DIPLOID daughter cells.

OpenStudy (inexilewetrust):

Yeah, B is your best bet.

kWhich of the following if added to this sequence A—G—A—T—G—C—G—A—G—T—T—A—C—G—G might create an insertion mutation? A. a sugar molecule B. an A, G, T, or C <<< C. a DNA molecule D. a fat molecule

OpenStudy (inexilewetrust):

I am pretty sure B is your best answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How does a mutation affect a gene? A. A mutation changes the sequence of DNA bases in a gene. B. A mutation creates the sequence of traits in a gene. C. A mutation creates the sequence of RNA bases in a gene. D. A mutation changes the sequence of RNA bases in a gene.
