Determine which system below will produce infinitely many solutions. (2 points)
A.)-6x + 3y = 18
4x - 3y = 6
B.)2x + 4y = 24
6x + 12y = 36
C.)3x - y = 14
-9x + 3y = -42
D.5x + 2y = 13
-x + 4y = -6

have you solved these?
DivineSolar (divinesolar):
@Jackson2701 Please solve these first :).
OpenStudy (anonymous):
No not yet
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok give me a little time
DivineSolar (divinesolar):
@Jackson2701 Let us solve B

OpenStudy (kidrah69):
If a solution is two of the same numbers it will have may solutions for example --> 0=0
If a system has x=a number it is one solution like this ---> x=2
If a soltuion is two diffrent numbers it is not a possible soltuion so no solution like this ----> 0=9
DivineSolar (divinesolar):
Then you want to substitute (-2y + 12) for x in 6x + 12y = 36
DivineSolar (divinesolar):
Tell me what you get after you do that.

-12y+24+12y=36
Wont you add -12y+12y which equals 0 so that cancels out
DivineSolar (divinesolar):
Yes so what does 0 =?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
that would still leave 24, 24=36
DivineSolar (divinesolar):
Well 0 = 36 so that one has no solutions. Now let us do C
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok

Then substitute (3x−14) for y in −9x+3y=−42
DivineSolar (divinesolar):
After the png work
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-42=-42
DivineSolar (divinesolar):
Correct now simplify both sides of those equations.
DivineSolar (divinesolar):
PS just add 42 to both sides if you did not know.

DivineSolar (divinesolar):
Wrong 0 = ?, Try again -42 + 42
OpenStudy (anonymous):
0
DivineSolar (divinesolar):
So what does 0 equal then? :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
42

0 = ?
DivineSolar (divinesolar):
Yes there you go!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so that is the answer C.)
DivineSolar (divinesolar):
0 = 0, How many solutions can that make? :)
