T.A. = ( ? + ? - ? √ ?) Image below L.A (Lateral Area) is 54

OpenStudy (freckles):

what does T.A. mean?

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

Total Area

OpenStudy (freckles):

Can't tell what that one 3'' is for is that the base length of the top triangle or the little line segment connecting the bottom triangle and the top triangle

OpenStudy (freckles):

if it is a little bit drawn to scale I'm thinking it means the 3'' is the base length of the top triangle

OpenStudy (freckles):

if so we can find the area of the top triangle by doing 1/2*base*height(of triangle) we can find the height of the top triangle using pythagorean theorem and we can find the area of the bottom rectangle by doing base*height(of the rect)
