This is the problem
I used law of sines to get it but all my answers are a tiny bit off from theirs

what did you get for A and B

Well I did a/sin58 = 8.4/sin 40
is that right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
8.4/sin40 is 11.27 and then you would multiply it by sin 58 which makes it 11,19
OpenStudy (anonymous):
did you use the rule of: SOHCAHTOA
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no i am using law of sines
a/sin a = b/sin b = c/sin c
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you just do the angle and then the side opposite that angle, but if there is another way to find the answer please tell me

i think i know an easier way.. the missing angle is obviously 40 degrees. since you know that the length of c is 8.4, use the sin rule: a/sin a= b/sin b. fill in what you know : a/sin(58)=8.4/sin(40)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
right thats what i did but all my answers are like very close to theirs but a tad off
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Like I'll get 11.18 but their only 11 option is 11.03
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i got 11.03. idk what you did differently
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i mean 11.08

can you show me how you did it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
to solve for a, i just done 8.4/sin(40) first. then after i get the answer to that, i multiplied it by sin(58)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
if you try the opposite like sin a/a =sinb/b instead of a/sin a and b/sin b what do you get?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i did that too but my calculator gave me 11.19
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thats strange. well, just eliminate the answers without 11.08 with a

OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ok do you think you can explain how you got it?
OpenStudy (darthvader2900):
Do you want me to tag everyone here?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what do you mean by that? Sorry Im kind of new to the website
