Many of the ideas of the Enlightenment Period were embraced by Romanticism artists, as high value was attributed to individual achievements, as they believed this would raise the quality of the society. This was a period where freedom in relation to art was allowed and rules were not enforced. The Romantic Age is tied with liberalism, however many of the aspects of society of the time was linked to urban sprawl and mass populations and the Romantic movement artists made it a point to return to medieval art and features on their art.
