Anaerobic: these reactions take place in the absence of oxygen or not requiring oxygen. Aerobic:these reactions occur in the presence of oxygen so they need oxygen for a reaction to take place. Asphyxiation: this is like suffocation... or if there is a lack of oxygen or excess carbon dioxide in the human body which interrupts breathing and may cause unconsciousness. (this does not really relate to reactions involving oxygen) Abiotic: This just means physical rather than biological factor. So basically a non-living condition or factor such as climate... (this has nothing to do with oxygen)
