Describe two advantages of genetic engineering.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please somebody i need help!!

OpenStudy (caominhim):

you can lose unwanted traits like sickle cell. You can generate much more produce in from plants. and i guess you could put traits into animals or even humans to facilitate disease resistance and create exceedingly resilient life

OpenStudy (anonymous):

losing unwanted traits is an advantage?

OpenStudy (caominhim):

right. If there is a dominant trait for, lets say frail bones. Then genetic engineering could help remove that trait, or replace it with another. This is generally done through selective breeding but you cold theoretically change it through genetic engineering.

The process of fertilization joins sperm and egg x and y chromosomes two daughter cells two parent cells

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and this is what i put for the answer you gave me. One advantage of genetic engineering is that you can lose unwanted traits like sickle cell. The second one is that you can generate much more produce from plants.

OpenStudy (caominhim):

Yea i guess that works, i would put more detail into it but that should answer your question. and fertilization is the process of sperm entering the egg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so sperm and egg?

OpenStudy (caominhim):

yep, and I would read up on this stuff if i were you, not just take answers from people on the internet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have some notes but on some stuff i don't
