@ICBM it didn't really change the way music was written... Musical notation WAS the way music wa written! Before musical notation, songs were learned and passed down by ear, or simply forgotten. With the introduction to notation, musicians can learn how to play famous works by reading the notes. So it did make music easier to play, in a sense.
