1.What are some of the benefits of reading to children? Include infancy through young school age children.
2.Did your parents or other caregivers read to you as a child? What effect do you think this had on you?

1.Some of the benefits would be that the child would have a positive influence because of the parents choice of literature for their children. Another benefit for your child would be a more sophisticated vocabulary and higher understanding of literature. In addition reading to the child would help their listening skills. Also may I make a suggestion of giving some reviews to the child such as the meaning of the texts or passages that you are reading as skill checks to help their critical thinking and analysis skills.

2. Yes my mother had used to read poetry and works of literatures including some works of Shakespeare as a child. In my opinion, I feel that I have developed a personal respect to works of Literature such as Edgar Allen Poe and Shakespeare because of my mother's influence.
