That's good question, LOL. I personally think that it depends on how worried you are to finish an essay or other coursework. However, some people usually get coffee to keep on them awake.

For me all I have to do is not take my medication, otherwise I have a hard time sleeping.  In my day people use to take vivorine, a pill combination of caffeine and sugar, or no-doze, a black pill of caffeine.  Espresso is strong coffee, to strong for me, might suit you more.  But my suggestion is to better organize you time so that you get your studies done and still get your sleep.
