Find the coordinates of the y-intercept of the line. y=4x-14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iGreen im kinda confused on what exactly to do

OpenStudy (igreen):

This is easy. y = mx + b 'b' is the y-intercept So what's the y-intercept of y = 4x - 14?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-14 which is (0,-14) i make it seem hard when i read it lol sorry but thx

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yep, you got it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one more question. say a line has a slope of 2/5. What is the other lines slope if it is perpendicular? @iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

Perpendicular lines have negative reciprocal slopes.

OpenStudy (igreen):

So we would flip the numerator and denominator and multiply by -1.

OpenStudy (igreen):

What do you geT?

OpenStudy (igreen):

*get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-5/2

OpenStudy (igreen):
