for an equation to be an equation is needs the 2 or more variables...I gguess to say 2 = 2 is not an equation..it needs to be something like 2 + 0 = 2 ??

Yes. There doesn't have to be a subtraction sign there doesn't have to be an addition sign. there doesn't have to be an equal sign just more than one variable
