Which system has (-2, -2) as the solution? A) x + y = -1 4x + 4y = -4 B) 4x + 6y = -12 2x + 3y = 9 C) x + y = -4 -3x + 2y = 2 D) x - 4y = -8 2x - 3y = -16 E) x - y = -2 3x - y = 0

OpenStudy (welshfella):

plug x = -2 and y = -2 into each of the options and see which ones fit

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I already tried. I couldn't figure it out! I am not good at these king of problems.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kind*

OpenStudy (welshfella):

eg Option A first equation -2 + -2 = -4 NOT -1 so its not A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

try Option C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3(-2)+2(-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hang on. i wanna try it

OpenStudy (welshfella):

- 2 - 2 = -4 that fits now try second equation -3(-2) + 2(-2) = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would be possitive 2 tho

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so C would be the answer? i thought the answers had to be -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh nevermind i see now. thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you just helped me alot!! thank you very much!

OpenStudy (welshfella):

No the roots are (-2,-2) (-2,-2) fits the second equation which has 2 on right hand side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea man i see it now.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yw
