OpenStudy (melissa_something):

f(x)=2x^2-2x-3

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

I have to find the coordinate of the min point. I got 1/2 already.

OpenStudy (dan815):

that is the where the x value of it is, now you need to find the y value there as well, so x=1/2 plug that into the equation

OpenStudy (dan815):

you can see that 1/2 is right by using the formula minX=-b/2a where b is the coefficient on the X term and a is the coefficient on x^2 term minX=-(-2)/2*2 = 2/4=1/2

OpenStudy (dan815):

now find the value there f(x) = 2x^2-2x-3 f(1/2)=2(1/2)^2-2(1/2)-3 =???

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

I got 3! @dan815 thank you

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

But the answer says min; (1/2 and -7/2)

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

Idk where 7/2 comes from :(

OpenStudy (dan815):

yes, check your math

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

oh -2 sorry

OpenStudy (dan815):

f(1/2)=2(1/2)^2-2(1/2)-3 =2*(1/4)-2/2-3 =1/2 -1-3 =-7/2

OpenStudy (dan815):

Does this clear it up?

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

Yes I reviewed your work and I got it -.- Thanks lol

OpenStudy (dan815):

okay byee :)
