What are the causes, events, and effects of the Holocaust?
Choices?
Before the Holocaust the Jewish people owned businesses. After the Holocaust started in 1933, Hitler staged boycotts against their businesses. In 1935 the government stripped Jews of their citizenship. Jews could not sit on park benches, swim in pools or go out to eat. A policy known as the Final Solution called for the murder of every Jew in German-occupied territory. Millions of Jews were killed in gas chambers. The total number of people killed was 11 million, including about 6 million Jews. Today our duty to prevent any future genocide would be to choose better leaders. We should also be mindful of how we treat other people or countries, regardless of our differences. Jude Badge German Jews were made to wear a yellow star badge that read "Jude". This would separate them from other "clean" Germans.
