OpenStudy (anonymous):

Granitic igneous rocks are all of the following EXCEPT ____. a. light-colored c. high in silica content b. lower in density than basaltic rocks d. high in iron content

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Which do you think and why? Do you know what a granitic rock is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it would be A light colored rock because from what i've seen granite igneous rocks are not all light i have seen quite alot of dark ones.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

If you have seen "dark" granite you have been talking to people that sell or use decorative rock and not geologists. In truth, there is no such thing as "black granite." that is basalt. And "darl granite" is diorite.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Also, light is a relative term. The feldspar content of granite can make it pink, green, brown, and a number of other colors. They just tend to be in the lighter shades, so certainly not A.
