Why did the Framers of the constitution give Supreme Court Justices life terms?

so they can't be forced by other branches of the government, but that really doesn't prevent the possibility of bribery.

The Judicial Branch of government is covered in Article III of the
U.S. Constitution. Certain judges, such as Supreme Court Judstices,
are given life terms in order to insulate them from the politics
and influences of being elected.
