BIOLOGY Why does growth slow down? What are the conditions for exponential growth? Please help!

Growth (of a population) slows down because resources are finite; sooner or later, food/water/air/space/etc might run out in a closed system without a completely efficient recycling mechanism. Growth can proceed unceasingly given an infinite area, resources, and time.
