Find the distance between these points R(-1,0), S(8,6) √(26) √(85) 3√(13)

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Welcome to OpenStudy! Do you know the distance formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no im totally confused

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Distance Formula: \(d = \sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2 + (y_2-y_1)^2}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok what do i do now

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

They give us point R(-1, 0), that is going to be \(x_1, y_1\). And they give S(8, 6), that is going to be \(x_2, y_2\). So now we just substitute in the values and solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

85?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

How did you get 85? What did you substitute for each value?
