What was the effect of the "Trail of Tears" on Native Americans? It helped end the American-Indian War. They were forced to move into Indian Territory. Native Americans were enslaved by American farmers. They were given land through the Homestead Act of 1862.

The American government forced the relocation of Native American tribes all over the United States after they passed the 'Indian Removal Act' in 1830. The land where they migrated to eventually became colloquially known as 'Indian Territory'.
