\[a) y=x ^{2}-5\]

\[b) y=x ^{2}+5\]

nevermind

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y=5x ^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y=-5x ^{2}\]

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Consider it like a domain - range thing Domain = x Range = y So basically when we have x = 4 or x = -4...we should get y = 11 When x = -2 or 2 we should get y = -1 So basically what it is saying is...take one of your choices...example A) y = x^2 - 5 If we plug in x = -4...and since -4 corresponds to a 'y' of 11....do we get that? y = x^2 - 5 y = (-4)^2 - 5 y = 16 - 5 y = 11 Okay good....so 1 checks off..now we just check the other possible choices with this same equation What happens when you plug in 2 into this equation? do you get -1? etc...
