The reason why the two of them split was because of their views on politics and how Islam should have been ruled.

When Muhammed died the Ottoman believed that the people should elect who is next in line to rule Islam. And the Shi'ites believed in that the next family member from the ruler who died should rule.

They still fight about it to this day and in history it has led to many wars between them. Good thing the Mughal's were peace makers or it would be a bigger bowl of trouble. XD

Also wait the Ottoman believed the most Capable Muslim should rule Islam so yeah elected by the people. XD But it would probably be better if you used accuracy from the book so yeah. Put for the ottoman that they believed that the most capable Muslim should rule Islam following the Qur'an still as Muhammad would.
