Do you know the formula for surface area of a prism?
OpenStudy (winsteria):
not really
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
Search it up and tell me what you get.
OpenStudy (winsteria):
(b is the shape of the ends)
Surface Area = Lateral area + Area of two ends
(Lateral area) = (perimeter of shape b) * L
Surface Area = (perimeter of shape b) * L+ 2*(Area of shape b)

so basically this is the formula:
surface area of a prism = 2 x area of base + perimeter of base x H
OpenStudy (winsteria):
okay
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
brb
OpenStudy (winsteria):
how do I set up the problem please help me when you get back lol

soo I'm back lol
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
\(\sf\Large Surface ~Area = ( 2 \times B) + (2 \times P)\)
The base is anything we want, lets chose 3x 10 recatangle as the base
OpenStudy (winsteria):
okay
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
so the area of the base is
3 x 10 =?
and the perimeter is
2( 3+10) = ?
OpenStudy (winsteria):
3 x 10 = 30
2 (3+10) = 26

so now
2 (10) + 2 (26) = ?
OpenStudy (winsteria):
72
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
correct (:
OpenStudy (winsteria):
so yeah that's the answer?
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
