FAN AND MEDAL A spinner is separated into 3 equal pieces, as shown below: A spinner is shown with three colors, red, yellow, and purple, marked on it. The arrow points towards the red color. Mary spins the spinner 6 times. What is the theoretical probability that it stops on the red sector on the last spin? 1 over 36 1 over 9 1 over 3 2 over 3

@chrissyC.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok do you have any guesses?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok give me one second

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1429377770745:dw| This is how the spinner is looking for the first step

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i forgot to put it in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mk so yea it looks similar to the one i've done . Now pretend that your mouse or your finger is the arrow and spin it 6 times around the circle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay and what do i then do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which color did you land on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

purple

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1429378091710:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok seems like we both landed on purple

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So with this information that we have gotten D would be crossed out there is not a chance of 2/3 for red to be picked

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also were would we get 36 or 9 from A and B ????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its 1 over 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would go with C because the circle is split in 3 so every color has the same chance of being picked so each color is 1 to 3--1 to 3---1 to 3 With this information like i said i'd go with C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks c:
